LAMINAM bears witness to its focus on the world of architecture, its ties to its origins as part of an approach to internationalisation by taking part as main partner in the project “VAA Vignola Archives of Architecture”.

VAA Vignola Archives of Architecture is an innovative research concept devised in partnership with Fondazione di Vignola, which is part of a project to gentrify the historic Contrari-Boncompagni building, with the ultimate goal of setting up a research centre on contemporary architecture.

The project begins this year analysing the ceramic material, involving 15 students from 5 prestigious European universities (University of East London, Royal Academy of Art The Hague, Delft University of Technology / The Berlage, Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Lisbon Architecture Triennale) for a one-week analysis and experimenting course held from 15th until 22nd July 2017 in Vignola. The workshop relates the manufacturing process of the large Laminam ceramic slabs with the other components making up the Contrari-Boncompagni building in Vignola. Five ambassadors will accompany the students in their study of the LAMINAM ceramic product through creative experimenting that analyses every step of the slab manufacturing process (pressing, printing, cutting, scrapping and bending) and translates it concretely into a specific classical architectural element. The practical sessions on the topics of research will lead to the presentation of the final works on 22nd July inside the Barozzi building in Vignola and, that evening, a round table is planned, open to the public, in Piazza dei Contrari.
