Fiorano Modenese (May 14, 2012)  – Crossville Inc. is launching “Laminam by Crossville,” a full line of lean profile, large format porcelain products. Under the agreement, Crossville is the sole source for Laminam’s innovative large unite porcelain panel products throughout the U.S. The distribution agreement is effective immediately, with product availability anticipated in early June.

“This is a landmark agreement and another example of Crossville’s commitment to meeting the needs of the U.S. market,” states Crossville President John Smith. “We recognized the growing demand for very large format, thinner, so we searched the globe to source the best products that would appeal to the American aesthetic and match the Crossville quality standard.”

Laminam by Crossville products, each selected expressly for the U.S. market, are suited for interior wall installations and may be used on an array of surfaces. The initial offering of 3mm thick fiberglass reinforced porcelain panels will be available in over 50 items. As Smith states, “the partnership with Laminam reflects a true synergy and a smart international procurement to not just meet but lead domestic demand for the most cutting edge products available globally”.

Laminam’s CEO, Alberto Selmi, concurs.

“Crossville’s commitment to quality, excellent logistics team and established relationship with the A&D community make this partnership truly ideal. We are excited for Laminam by Crossville to launch in the U.S. market,” shares Selmi.

WINDOWS

The exhibition “WINDOWS, finestre” opened on Thursday, January 19 in Laminam's Milan showroom, third part of its WORKING PROGRESS programme.

Dedicated to architecture and the modern-day city, the exhibition will remain open until February 2 and is a collection of watercolours, sketches and designs by Luca Scacchetti:the thin Laminam ceramic slabs have been transformed into backdrops for this occasion, becoming metaphorical windows open on the urban panoramas, expressly cut and outlined into different shapes and suspended in the showroom's space.

LAMINAM WORKING PROGRESS:A WINDOW OPEN ON THE CITY

Part three of the programme dedicated to the culture of design has taken on the look of art.On display are the works of Luca Scacchetti, windows with a view onto multi-formed urban panoramas.

WINDOWS, finestre.Open in the walls of any city, they reveal the face of present-day urban architecture and give their name to the third part of WORKING PROGRESS.

The exhibition, which starts on January 19, 2012, in Laminam's Milan showroom at Via Mercato 3, brings together sketches, designs and watercolours by Luca Scacchetti.

Both architect and designer, Scacchetti narrates the everyday landscape of the city in a rarefied vision which proceeds using recurring experiences:  a different kind of Milan is seen, but it could in fact be anything, in an affectionate and disenchanted design representation, which becomes the narrative of contemporary living.

Stains of colour take on substance and find their place in certain Laminam structures which simulate the complexity and richness of the views from the windows of our city homes.

Splashes of urban visions open out on walls “pierced by windows, windows from which to watch other cities or the same ones, changed by design or better still, by shadows, blurs, dreamlike images of invisible plans ”, Scacchetti explains.“A game to present a series of watercolours, initial sketches or the remains of architectural projects come to fruition or not, a little everywhere, but which carry inside, deep inside, also and always a little of Milan.  But also a way to reiterate that architecture is merely what we see from any window in our homes, even the most common, taken for granted or ugly.A city's architecture is that which, piece by piece, builds that daily, customary and recurring image that greets us when we awaken. There, in that casual view, where neither monuments nor fanciful ponderous oddities of fashionable architects can be seen, is where a city’s true identity is held, its usual, daily face, perhaps a little grey but still beautiful because authentic and true".

WORKING PROGRESS is the name chosen for a series of high-level creative initiatives, a pathway, which intends to suggest, using material as its starting point, synthesis of lightness and precision, incentives and different points of view, transforming the Laminam showroom into a vibrant place forculture and training, an open space, ceaselessly evolving.

Scheduled aretemporary installations, meetings and workshops, art, architecture, and photographyexhibitions, activities and events, moments to reflect and update, as well as children'sworkshops, structured using the Munari method, and design school students invited to carry out their work "in the shop window".

WORKING PROGRESS SECOND EVENT

An enchanted landscape greeted the many people who arrived on Thursday, December 1 at Laminam's Milan showroom for the second event of WORKING PROGRESS, enveloping them in a unique Christmas atmosphere of other times. The innovative ceramic slabs took centre stage in a three-dimensional dream called “A Christmas Landscape”, a vision signed by Giulio Iacchetti, which drew its inspiration from an evocative Pieter Bruegel painting of an evocative mediaeval township.

The installation can be admiredall over the Christmas period: until January 9, the window onto the street will weave the spell of afairytale landscape even to those passers-by most pressed for time.

WORKING PROGRESS: Laminam ceramic slabs become the prime materials for a dream in the “Christmas Landscape” conceived by Giulio Iacchetti

http://vimeo.com/33014264

A fairytale landscape, a snowy village and the atmosphere of a Christmas of past times are the sources of inspiration for the original poetic vision that Giulio Iacchetti has imagined for the installation in the Laminam’s Milan showroom.

Laminam ceramic slabs, characterised by their large dimensions, reduced thickness and highly advanced technical performances, become the prime materials for a dream. They are transformed into theatre sets, cut according to precise designs and assembled one in front of the other to suggest the depth of a hilly landscape immersed in silence and snowflakes. Thus a major delicate and impactful installation is created, completed by a video that tells the evolution of the project.

The “Christmas Landscape” by Giulio Iacchetti is the second event of WORKING PROGRESS. The rich programme devoted to the culture of the project, after the success of the opening, proposes for Christmas Holydays a magical, evocative setting.
