Sag Tubi - Office Building Exteriors
Novellara – Reggio Emilia/Italy
Project: Ingrid Fontanili, Architect
I Metalli - Finish: Plumbeo Ossidato
The uniformity of indoor and outdoor materials is one of the distinguishing features of the architectural project for the new Sag Tubi offices in the province of Reggio Emilia, devised by the Architect Ingrid Fontanili. The natural and highly hard-wearing Laminam ceramic surfaces have been used both inside and outside (link to the reference in interiors).
While the gentle shades of Kotan Grey are predominant in the interiors, chromatic delicacy is retained in the exteriors by combining two series with highly contrasting textures: Fokos and I Metalli. The former is distinguished by a precious natural element while the latter constitutes one of the most high-tech industrial textures in the Laminam product range. The result is surprisingly harmonious.
The façade of the building in fact stars the Fokos series, in Terra colour, inspired by the primordial force of nature, and it is combined with the I Metalli series in the Plumbeo Ossidato texture, the surface of which reflects the noise of traditional craft-based processing techniques wisely transferred thanks to an in-depth technological and stylistic research activity.
Besides their tactile differences, both surfaces share superior technical properties, which make them ideal for use in outdoor settings: resistance to scratches and deep abrasion, to fire, to frost as well as to high temperatures and to UV rays.
Laminam ceramic slab properties:
• Resistant to scratches and deep abrasion
• Resistant to mildew and fungi
• Resistant to stains
• Resistant to chemicals
• Resistant to UV rays
• Intrinsic hygienic quality
• Low maintenance and easy cleaning
