Design: Mroczkowski Architekci
One of the most original accomplishments in the architectural world is the special ventilated façade of the office building of 4Expo. The building, designed by the Mroczkowski Architekci studio, is striking due to its geometric structure: monolithic quality of the cladding is skilfully juxtaposed with diagonal cuts that lend it a dynamic overall structure.
The building is used to house the headquarters of 4Expo, a company that specialises in setting up exhibitions across the globe, and it includes offices, meeting rooms and a warehouse. The design of the building is inspired by the shape of trees, and it reproduces the essence of both the trunk and the branches, as if to envelop the entire façade in a tight embrace. It also relies on nature for the choice of materials used: mainly wood and porcelain stoneware.
Indeed, the architect used Laminam ceramic slabs to clad the exterior façade, generating surfaces consisting of pure natural material, extremely light-weight and concurrently utterly hard-wearing, chosen from the Collection series, in the white finish. The slabs were cut into geometric portions of various shapes and sizes, yet perfectly designed and laid to give rise to an "architectural jig saw" that guarantees bright interiors and exteriors.
Like all other Laminam ceramic slabs, Collection is built to stand the test of time; no colour fading with exposure to sun rays nor surface wearing due to scratches and knocks - these properties mean this particular material is a genuine excellence in architectural design.
Laminam ceramic slab properties:
• Resistant to scratches and deep abrasion
• Resistant to mildew and fungi
• Resistant to stains
• Resistant to chemicals
• Resistant to UV rays
• Resistant to sudden temperature changes
• Intrinsic hygienic quality
• Low maintenance and easy cleaning
• Easy processing
