Prague metro. An overall network covering approximately 65 km which snakes along a route comprising 61 stations. Three lines, green, yellow and red, open every day from 5 am until midnight, carrying over 420 million passengers each year.
The large volume of traffic made it necessary to refurbish the city stations entirely. The works began in 2014, and they also involved the Anděl station (yellow line), a major hub for city traffic, in 2015. Having undergone gentrification in the 1990s, the Anděl neighbourhood is today a strategic centre of the city's economy, home to multiple offices housing some major national and international companies, as well as one of the largest shopping centres in Prague, Novy Smichov.
To modernise the interiors of Anděl metro station, Engineer and Architect Martínková from studio METROPROJEKT Praha a.s. who was in charge of the project chose Laminam ceramic slabs cut specifically into portions to clad the curved wall of the underpass tunnel. 450 sq. m. of ceramic slabs picked in 4 colours, Bianco, Fumo, Nero and Arancio from the Collection series in 3 mm thickness, combined to form a modern, linear and elegant game of hues, to accompany travellers along their way and highlight the route to cover.
Laminam ceramic slabs are perfect for use in public venues, owing to their durability and superior stress resistance properties. Indeed, Laminam slabs boast numerous properties:
• Resistant to scratches and deep abrasion
• Resistant to mildew and fungi
• Resistant to stains
• Resistant to chemicals
• Resistant to heat and fire
• Resistant to UV rays
• Intrinsic hygienic quality
• Cleaning easiness
